We are looking to expand our team of employee-owners and need a leader to manage inspection resources for TxDOT projects. This role will day‑to‑day run a TxDOT project, coordinating testing, and ensuring contractor activities meet design specifications and contractual requirements.

What You'll Do- Inspect, monitor, and oversee construction field work tasks and activities to ensure conformance to plans and specifications; administer KPIs and budget; read and interpret complex contract documents for compliance.
- Perform on‑site material testing; review plans and specifications to determine material requirements, track item quantities, prepare pay estimates, and ensure procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
- Initiate field changes to drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies or conflicts; review contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy and consistency; prepare weekly progress reports.
- Consult with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommend solutions, assist in issue resolution, and act as liaison with the engineer of record.
- Remain current on industry technology and tools (GPS/Rovers) to increase inspection efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform office engineer work as needed, including assisting change manager and project manager with contractor claims and disputes; track, review, process RFIs and submittals; conduct constructability reviews.
- Lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees; monitor internal HNTB project controls.
- Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff, plan for performance and compensation reviews, and succession; coordinate schedules and approve timecards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years relevant experience, or
- Doctorate degree in Engineering and 4 years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for workmanship and materials; serve as subject‑matter expert for constructability reviews.
- Effective deployment of section/department resources.
- Leadership of the project team in absence of PM/RE.
- Advanced shop drawing and submittal review; advanced CPM schedule analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Project Management Professional (PMP).
- OSHA 10 certified.
- Experience in Site Manager.
- TxDOT CEI relevant experience.
