Position Overview
As a mid-level refrigeration design engineer at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute your expertise to six major sectors:
Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. You will work closely with Henderson Building Solutions to deliver a client experience unlike any other in the industry. Learn more about the sectors at
- Perform calculations and design basic to advanced refrigeration engineering systems with a high degree of independence.
- Prepare basic to advanced electrical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Conduct research and evaluate system or equipment feasibility, recommending best options.
- Assist with developing, establishing, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners and customers in support of business development and/or pursuit activities.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous learning in industry software such as Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office products.
- May support or coordinate project activities: managing emails, planning scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, responding to client questions, and coordinating delivery.
- Act as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering preferred and 3 years of relevant experience, or 5 years of experience without a degree. Professional Engineering (PE) license may be counted toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering preferred and 7 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of experience without a degree. Professional Engineering (PE) license may be counted toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- At least 1 year of previous exposure to mechanical/HVAC and refrigeration design capability in commercial project design, retail, or related markets.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of the FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards required.
