Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. is seeking a
Product Engineer I to support the design, development, and enhancement of commercial terminal unit products. This entry-level engineering role focuses on delivering high-performance, reliable solutions that meet both customer expectations and manufacturing requirements. The Product Engineer applies engineering principles and utilizes Solid Works to create innovative designs, improve existing products, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure product feasibility, efficiency, and alignment with production capabilities.

What

You'll Do
  • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in Solid Works, leveraging VBA to automate file creation and streamline documentation.
  • Manage engineering data using Solid Works PDM, ensuring accuracy and version control.
  • Develop and finalize models and drawings for special product requests, collaborating with Product Managers, clients, and manufacturing engineers for approvals.
  • Create and update drawings and BOMs for missing or outdated product documentation, managing files efficiently in Solid Works PDM.
  • Respond to Engineering Change Requests by releasing drawing and modeling packages on schedule.
  • Review Corrective Action and Deviation Requests from production facilities, recommending corrective actions.
  • Generate technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate system performance and operating characteristics.
  • Develop and Manage product design schedules using the phase-gate process, ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement of engineering procedures.
  • Create and monitor project status reports.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and plants to ensure design specifications are maintained, streamline and lean out production standards and processes, reduce waste, and recommend design improvements.
  • Answer technical questions from clients, OEM representatives, and manufacturing engineers at production facilities about products to ensure seamless HVAC system integration.
  • Test and/or evaluate software or firmware used by engineering.
  • Initiate and oversee prototype/ test model development and analyze laboratory data to drive product improvements and innovation.
  • Test, evaluate, and compare competitor's products, materials, designs, performance and application.
  • Mentor designers and junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in technology, tools, and resources. This may include participation in AMCA, UL, DOE, ASHRAE, and AHRI committees.
  • Follow and comply with company work and safety rules.
What We Look For
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University
  • 1+ years of related engineering and Solid Works experience is required. Knowledge and experience with HVAC systems and manufacturing processes are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works, VBA, MS Office, and familiarity with tools like ANSYS CFD, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Revit. Phase-Gate development processes, project management, DFMA, FMEA, Lab View, AS400, sheet metal forming and fabrication, air movement principles, and fan/blower laws are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle practical issues and interpret varied instructions in written, oral, or diagram form, even in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, present information clearly, and effectively communicate and influence stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to respective manufacturing locations for product start-up, quality audits, and follow up on the production of products.
Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a climate-controlled atmosphere designed for productivity. There may be occasional opportunities to visit a plant for meetings or collaboration. In some cases, work may be conducted in a test lab or manufacturing environment, which may require lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
