Facilities Design Leader Overview:

The Facilities Design Leader oversees all aspects of the design process, from research to conceptualization, final design, and construction. This position provides on-the-job training to enhance the core competencies of team members, leading project teams towards successful adoption of new design ideas. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mastery of design fundamentals and can effectively manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.

Additionally, this position plays an active role in professional associations and community organizations as part of our commitment to building partnerships within the community.

Responsibilities:
  • Review proposals, budgets, and client agreements.
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee the design and technical aspects of team projects, including detailed engineering design, calculations, report writing, permitting, and client presentations.
  • Write responses to client RFQs and solicitations.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials, and community leaders.
  • Coordinate and monitor project tasks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Participate in the development of company design and production standards.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Recommend the use of utility or energy services and specify system components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and hydrologic, hydraulic, or water quality modeling.
  • Provide technical direction to junior engineers and technical personnel.
  • Design pumping systems, stations, and pipelines for water use.
  • Actively participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Texas.
  • 10+ years of experience managing substantial water and wastewater projects from conception to completion.
  • 15+ years of experience in potable water design, including facilities, pumping, treatment, and permitting.
  • Extensive knowledge of design and construction practices for waterlines, storage tanks, pump stations, and transmission mains.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials, and community leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals.
  • Actively involved in professional associations and civic organizations.
