Mechanical Design Engineer II; Mission Critical

Mechanical Design Engineer II – Mission Critical team. Design and re‑design data centers across the United States. Candidates should have experience designing data centers.

• Design core and shell layouts, data halls, and redesign of data centers
• Contribute to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs for current and future industry demands
• Produce BIM mappings
• Prepare or modify reports, plans, and designs for projects
• Evaluate products for their application
• Provide technical guidance to electrical designers
• Identify and seek to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge continuously
• Maintain knowledge of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office; act as a resource for training or assistance
• Research and review new products, industry trends, and evolving codes and standards
• Understand and apply Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural engineering or related field and 3 years of relevant experience (or 6 years with high school diploma)
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
• Additional certifications aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD)
• Certifications aligned with sustainability backgrounds (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL)
• Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry codes, design guides, and standards
• Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu
• High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand, and utilize various systems and processes
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; clear and concise communication with designers at all levels
• Effective critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
• Team oriented, willingness and ability to function collaboratively, lead less experienced designers, and work independently as needed
• Adaptability to changing work environments, priorities, and organizational needs
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to discipline or focus
• Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies described in this job description
