Position SummaryMechanical Design Engineer II – Mission Critical team. Design and re‑design data centers across the United States. Candidates should have experience designing data centers.
Key Responsibilities- Design core and shell layouts, data halls, and redesign of data centers
- Contribute to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs for current and future industry demands
- Produce BIM mappings
- Prepare or modify reports, plans, and designs for projects
- Evaluate products for their application
- Provide technical guidance to electrical designers
- Identify and seek to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge continuously
- Maintain knowledge of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office; act as a resource for training or assistance
- Research and review new products, industry trends, and evolving codes and standards
- Understand and apply Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural engineering or related field and 3 years of relevant experience (or 6 years with high school diploma)
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
- Additional certifications aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD)
- Certifications aligned with sustainability backgrounds (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL)
- Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry codes, design guides, and standards
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu
- High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand, and utilize various systems and processes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; clear and concise communication with designers at all levels
- Effective critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Team oriented, willingness and ability to function collaboratively, lead less experienced designers, and work independently as needed
- Adaptability to changing work environments, priorities, and organizational needs
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to discipline or focus
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies described in this job description
