Harris is seeking qualified individuals to join our Aeronautical Systems Engineering team as an Electrical Design Engineer for ISR & Special Mission. This role will lead and develop electrical power systems for aircraft integration. Responsibilities include development of electrical load analysis facilities, documents, vendor coordination, and supporting testing/integration of the system. The engineer will research systems integration, prepare engineering drawings, and coordinate design activities with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure designs meet requirements at minimum cost.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other junior level employees.
- Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process procedures and program requirements.
- Provide input into new product processes, standards, and production plans that impact overall business results.
- Influence a wide range of audiences and demonstrate leadership skills to win support without a direct reporting structure.
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of relevant aircraft design experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 23/25 or military aircraft airworthiness design approach certification processes and requirements.
- Advanced knowledge and skills using ECAD tools.
- Progressive understanding of power systems and various mission systems.
- Ability to travel internationally to support field modifications.
- Ability to travel to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar environments, and board/exit aircraft as required.
- Capable of managing and working in a fast-paced demanding environment focused on problem resolution and process improvement.
- Minimum active DoD Secret Clearance required.
- Ten years of aircraft design experience in defense aerospace industry.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Experience developing secondary power distribution systems, performing wire derivation calculations, and familiarity with aircraft power systems standards such as MIL-STD-704.
- Results-oriented empowering leader with experience excelling in a matrixed environment.
- Experience in electrical design using Siemens NX or similar.
