Summary
This position maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Demonstrates a mastery of skills and task associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment. Capable of educating others including clinical staff related to technical integration of the device/system. Serves as lead in the absence of Team Lead.
- Repair and maintain a variety of complex hospital medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and Children's Medical Center of Dallas guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items.
- Assist with training of biomedical technicians; provide guidance to technicians and act as lead in the absence of management.
- React to emergencies and urgent needs for service, as well as participate in the on‑call process which demands being available for response on off‑hours as well as weekends.
- Assemble, inspect and install new equipment.
- Inspect incoming non‑hospital owned equipment.
- Provide advanced support of acuity equipment for direct patient care.
- Knowledgeable in both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
- Solve organization‑level customer service issues and complaints.
- Demonstrated a mastery of clinical equipment so that work beyond single devices can be appropriately accomplished.
- Has a working knowledge of project management terms and methods.
- At least 5 years Hospital or Biomedical Equipment Service required
- Two-year associate’s degree or equivalent experience. Two-year associate degree in biomedical Equipment Technology, electronics, military or equivalent training and experience required.
- Must obtain Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification within one year of hire (1 year required)
- Existing employees in role hired before 1/2/2022, must obtain Certified Biomedical Equipment Tech (CBET) by 12/31/2023 required
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
