JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Technician
Position SummaryThe role of the Diagnostic Technician is to work relatively close with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex testing.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Perform the necessary diagnostic testing of the eye and have a basic understanding and knowledge of these tests such as
- OCT macula, OCT optic nerves, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos Fundus photos, EPIC (OPD and glare), IMMERSION and HVF, any other related tests as needed
- Assist with answering calls and emails: triage, RX refills, questions regarding patient chart/plan, etc.
- Become familiar with basic conditions and diseases of the eye.
- Maintain and sterilize room and equipment, properly turning on and off all equipment.
- Assist Technicians and Scribes as needed.
- Administer topical ophthalmic medication and understand basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their uses.

- Minimum 1 year experience in ophthalmic field preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Some college coursework or Associate’s degree preferred.
- JCAHPO certification preferred.
- CPR preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to think quickly and be attentive.
- Be able to work in a fast‑paced, team environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff members.
- Must demonstrate commitment to ongoing education and uphold the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficient in EMR and computer literacy.
- Well organized and attentive to detail.
- Proficiency in a second language highly desirable.
