The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. The RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements individualized care plans, evaluates responses, and promotes safe passage for patients.
Essential Functions- Clinical Judgment – Conduct accurate assessments, prioritize needs, develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Clinical Inquiry – Evaluate practice quality, support evidence‑based practice, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Caring Practices – Create a safe, therapeutic environment, manage pain, and prevent suffering.
- Response to Diversity – Incorporate culture, beliefs, and values into care plans.
- Advocacy and Moral Agency – Protect confidentiality, autonomy, and dignity; represent patient concerns.
- Facilitation of Learning – Facilitate learning for patients, families, staff, and community.
- Partnership – Collaborate with colleagues and community, delegate appropriately.
- Systems Thinking – Use strategies and resources for problem‑solving, ensure safety and efficiency.
- Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, accreditation standards.
- Medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction.
- Medical and nursing ethics, patient privacy rights.
- Clear communication skills.
- Social skills to interact with diverse constituencies.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving.
- Observation of patient condition changes and communication.
- Patient‑centered care via nursing process.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, EMR, etc.).

Qualifications- Education:
Graduate of an accredited program or 2+ years of work experience above the minimum qualification. - Major:
Nursing. - Experience:
2 years or more of OR experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – BLS or within 30 days of hire or transfer.
