Medical Laboratory Scientist II, Urologic Cancer Diagnostics. In this role, you'll perform a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established processes and procedures.
Our client is a market leader in the important and growing field of molecular diagnostics, is growing again fast, and is offering an hourly rate of between $27.67 - $29.00 / hr. DOE, excellent fully paid healthcare benefits for employees, 401K, and progressive career opportunities! This is a Wednesday to Saturday, 9 : 30am to 7 : 30pm full-time opportunity.
Immediate opening for a Medical Laboratory Scientist I near Plano, TX who possesses:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology / Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science or an appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science.
- 2+ years of experience performing laboratory testing in a clinical setting, including CLIA classified high complexity tests.
- Experience performing molecular tests.
- Experience working with LIMS database, quality systems and lab automation.
- Microbiology experience.
- Performs all manual technical procedures relating to specimen preparation, specimen type, protocols, and procedures.
- Operates automated laboratory instrumentation assigned to designated department and / or shift, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair procedures as required.
- Conducts all microbiological techniques including, but not limited to: performing and reviewing quality control results, processing patient specimens for batching and plating, isolating and maintaining cultures of bacteria and other microorganisms, staining slides and reading gram stains.
- Works safely in a BSL II facility.
- Consistently and accurately transcribes patient test results from raw data generated from an instrument into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
- Maintains accurate documentation of all testing activities including but not limited to patient specimens, proficiency testing, quality control results, preventive maintenance / calibration of instruments, and LIS results entry.
- Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, corrects them, and notifies Laboratory Operations Management or Laboratory Director.
- Documents corrective actions when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
- Maintains a neat, clean, well-organized work area with adequate daily supplies stocked / stored at each bench.
- Completes assigned tasks in Master Control within required time frames.
- Inspects, labels, and stores incoming supplies when necessary.
- Maintains complete and real‑time documentation of department logs, files, and worksheets.
- Recognizes and effectively communicates laboratory results requiring immediate attention.
- Assists in training and cross‑training licensed Medical Laboratory Scientists and Non‑MLS employees.
- Administers and performs competency assessment biannually for new employees employed less than one year when scheduled.
- Assists in writing and revising operational procedures.
