Who We’re Looking ForThe TFS Information and Digital Systems (IDS) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Operations Engineer Manager. The primary responsibility of the Operations Engineer Manager is to serve as a technical subject‑matter expert for specific domains to ensure the health of a portfolio. The role requires a strong foundation in Dev Ops methodology and an automation mindset. The Operations Engineer Manager will partner with the Development and Engineering organizations to facilitate and recommend automation of manual work, act as a conduit between development/engineering and Service Desk, and work closely with key business partners, technical and production teams, and third‑party vendors.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required to motivate and influence in challenging situations and to apply technical expertise across operational environments, performance improvements, automation opportunities, and technical delivery support.
- Participate in Major Incident Management calls and help resolve high‑priority incidents.
- Engage the corresponding factories for issues that need resolution at L4 level.
- Participate in Problem Management to attain countermeasures that avoid incident recurrence.
- Provide operations assessment of factory technical deliverables and non‑functional requirements.
- Identify repeatable tasks and propose automation for them.
- Lead teams to ensure that the TRP is updated and participates in TRP activities.
- Coordinate and execute annual Disaster Recovery testing.
- Review and ensure accuracy of the information in the CMDB.
- Review and ensure accuracy of application runbooks, maintenance manuals, etc.
- Ensure proper knowledge transfer has been done for factory technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with Factory Release Master to review and assess upcoming releases for support handover.
- Identify and implement thresholds for availability and response time to be used for application monitoring.
- Interface with the infrastructure team on upcoming upgrades and transform them into factory backlog.
- Provide technical and SME knowledge to assigned factory squads when required.
- Suggest and implement automation for operational activities.
- Review factory adherence to the FRE checklist and gating criteria for change deployment in pre‑release review.
- Retrospect on past releases and provide directions for improvement for factories.
- Typically possesses 5 or more years of progressive, broad‑based IT experience successfully supporting business applications.
- High‑level technical and communication skills to influence and persuade others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present recommendations to executive management.
- Ability to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms.
- Conceptual understandings with deep and/or broad expertise over multiple subjects within a technical field and significantly applied experience.
- Expert functional expertise combined with significant organizational and industry awareness and knowledge.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry standards or best practices within the application production support space.
