Senior Network Engineer I
Shutterfly is looking for a Senior Network Engineer I to join their team. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, securing and supporting the organization’s production and enterprise network infrastructure. This role serves as a senior technical resource and supports advanced routing, switching, firewall, SD‑WAN, wireless and load‑balancing technologies. The Senior Network Engineer works closely with Net Eng Principals, security teams and business units to ensure a robust, highly available and secure network environment.

- Assist in design, implementation and administration of enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, manufacturing and data center network environments.
- Lead deployment, configuration and optimization of Cisco SD‑WAN environments.
- Manage, maintain and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama for centralized policy management.
- Configure and support F5 Load Balancers (LTM/GTM) for high availability and application delivery.
- Administer and optimize Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and associated access points.
- Manage assigned Service Now tasks and incidents, ensuring compliance with SLA requirements and timely resolution.
- Monitor network performance, analyze trends and resolve complex issues with minimal downtime.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, architecture documentation, runbooks and standards.
- Maintain network security controls (Zscaler, firewalls, ACLs, segmentation, IDS/IPS).
- Evaluate new network technologies, recommend improvements and contribute to long‑term strategy.
- Provide Tier‑III support for escalated network incidents and participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including systems, cloud and security operations.
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco networking technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 load balancers.
- Experience with Cisco SD‑WAN: deployment, routing policies, templates, vManage/vBond/vSmart.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks: firewalls, Panorama, security policies, App‑, User‑, threat prevention.
- Experience with F5 Load Balancers (LTM/GTM): virtual servers, pools, iRules, SSL offloading.
- Experience with Cisco WLC / Wireless: RF design, controller configuration, AP provisioning, security.
- Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, VRF).
- Experience with VPN technologies including IPSec, SSL‑VPN, and remote access.
- Familiarity with network automation tools (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure) preferred.
- Proficiency with network monitoring/management tools (Solar Winds, DNAC or similar).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in complex and time‑sensitive scenarios.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong commitment to security, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Hybrid position: 2 days/week on‑site and 3 days/week remote.
- High‑performing team.
- Occasional travel to remote sites.
- May require evening or weekend work for maintenance windows or urgent incidents.
- Support on‑call rotation.
This position may be eligible for a bonus incentive, health benefits, a 401(k) program and other employee perks. In Minnesota, the base pay range is $93,250–112,500. For other locations see the company benefits page.
