Cyber Risk & Analysis Manager
Capital One is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Cyber Risk & Analysis Manager with experience evaluating and analyzing technology and cybersecurity risks and managing cyber related Third Party monitoring and governance processes who is interested in becoming part of our Cyber team.
Responsibilities- Effectively challenge the status quo across the organization to ensure appropriate management of personnel and cyber‑security and third‑party risks.
- Actively participate in ensuring the security of third‑party systems and applications, including third‑party cyber‑security framework, program optimization, vulnerability remediation, metrics reporting, performance analysis and mitigation of cyber and third‑party risk.
- Employ high‑level critical thinking to perform duties related to projects, compliance, metrics, assurance, vulnerabilities or threats.
- Apply knowledge of procedure‑based controls of a cyber‑security program including qualitative risk analysis steps, vulnerability and patch management, threat modeling, identity and access management (IAM), and cyber‑security frameworks (NIST CSF, PCI‑DSS, CIS).
- Compile professional security assessment reports, slides, and lead discussions to effectively communicate risks and remediation options to partners.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of incident‑management, response and recovery functions from a cyber‑resiliency perspective.
- Manage a cyber‑security team focused on third‑party cyber‑risk activities involving monitoring, vulnerability monitoring, outreach, framework and contract requirements.
- Work cross‑functionally within cyber‑security to review identified third‑party vulnerabilities and the deployment of third‑party solutions to determine severity, impact and recommend risk‑based remediation options.
- Actively collaborate with business partners, application architects and partner security and risk teams to research and build security solutions aligned to business goals.
- Learn advanced cyber‑security concepts, including modern threat‑exploitation techniques.
- Achieve team commitments and influence others to do the same using informal leadership and advanced communication skills.
- Actively manage and escalate risk and customer‑impacting issues within the day‑to‑day role to management.
- Demonstrate excellent technical writing skills.
- Mentor novices and guide advanced beginners to grow.
- Communicate effectively and promptly every day, lead cyber‑security discussions at Capital One, and provide oversight into security programs impacting decisions. Guide the team to achieve key results for assigned security assessment tasks.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
- At least 4 years of cyber‑security experience.
- At least 2 years of third‑party risk management or risk management experience.
- At least 2 years of management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 6+ years in cyber‑security.
- 4+ years in third‑party risk management.
- 2+ years of experience establishing third‑party connections (API, SFTP, VPN).
- 2+ years of experience assessing security for cloud platforms, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
- 2+ years of experience in network, OS, and database security administration.
- 2+ years managing third‑party monitoring solutions.
- CISM certification.
- CISSP certification.
Location & Salary
- Chicago, IL: $144,000 – $164,400
- McLean, VA: $158,400 – $180,800
- Plano, TX: $144,000 – $164,400
- Richmond, VA: $144,000 – $164,400
Salary ranges reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Part‑time roles will be prorated.
Performance‑based incentive compensation may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
