Description
The Director of Accounting plays a key leadership role at Avion Hospitality, overseeing all areas of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for our managed portfolio. This position provides direct oversight of the corporate accounting team, while also guiding property-level Directors of Finance/Controllers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with Avion’s values of Trust, Transparency, and Results
. The Director serves as a partner to executive leadership, driving financial integrity, operational efficiency, and consistent reporting standards across the company.
- Directly supervise the corporate accounting team.
- Manage relationships with external accounting partners.
- Provide indirect oversight and guidance to property-level Directors of Finance/Controllers.
- Partner closely with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives and reporting.
- Lead the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce accounting policies, processes, and standard operating procedures across all properties.
- Oversee cash management, payroll, and intercompany reconciliations at both the corporate and property level.
- Monitor and review property-level AP processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyze financial performance and property operations to identify opportunities for improved profitability and cost controls.
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls at both the corporate and property levels.
- Serve as primary liaison with external audit firms, ensuring successful completion of all audits and tax-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with statutory payroll, property tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Travel up to 25% to properties and the corporate office to provide oversight, training, and support.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across corporate and property teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Full understanding of USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry).
- Advanced financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and internal control systems.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
