Overview SHEET METAL FABRICATOR (PLTX)
Bowhead seeks an Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our Manufacturing and Products Group team in Plano, TX. The Sheet Metal Fabricator must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for operating, setting up, and adjusting fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities- Operate, set up, and adjust fabrication equipment (Press brake/Slip rollers/Drill Press).
- Manage work in progress and adhere to the shop production schedule.
- Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, meeting customer delivery expectations.
- Ensure that all company and industry regulated quality standards are maintained on all fabricated products.
- Ensure compliance with production regulations according to the Quality Management System using documentation, maintenance and development.
- Ensure welding quality meets company and customer standards on all projects.
- Interpret drawings, engineering specs and finish symbols.
- Perform accurate calculations and layouts from drawings.
- Keep the management team informed on the status of various projects.
- Other duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED required, technical certification a plus and a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of custom sheet metal manufacturing experience is required.
- Knowledge of LEAN practices considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings.
- Ability to set-up/program press break/rollers.
- Must be able read and interpret drawings, with a strong understanding of GD&T principles.
- Proven ability to perform all welding and fabrication operations.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Demonstrate safe work practices.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- IAW ANSI/AWS D1 AND/OR ASME welding certifications.
- NAVSEA, OR military equivalent welding certifications.
- Tig/Mig welding knowledge.
- Knowledge of laser cutting considered an asset.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds or more repetitively.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
