Nurse Practitioner – Spine Clinic
Join the Baylor Scott & White Health team as a Nurse Practitioner in our Spine Clinic. This role provides direct patient care within a specialty clinic, prescribing under delegated authority and collaborating with physicians.
Essential Functions of the Role- Assess physical and mental condition through comprehensive or problem-focused exams and medical histories.
- Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to determine patient problems and health‑care needs.
- Prescribe or recommend therapies, including drug treatments, and perform procedures per approved protocols with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
- Formulate and implement evidence‑based patient treatment plans in partnership with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
- Evaluate patient response and effectiveness of care, providing counseling on medications, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and initiate timely consultation and referrals when outside scope.
- Provide consultation‑level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty.
- Manage patients in settings beyond the primary clinic, such as inpatient or emergency services.
- Perform invasive procedures appropriate to scope of practice, as delegated by supervising physician.
- May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond regular schedule.
- Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
- Proficiency in diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with related software applications.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based patient treatment plans.
- Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological conditions and behavior modification.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Current RN licensure in Texas or RN with compact privilege.
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
- Board certification as an APRN for the targeted patient population.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited program.
- Less than 1 year of experience (entry level).
- Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits.
