Nurse Practitioner – Spine Clinic

Join the Baylor Scott & White Health team as a Nurse Practitioner in our Spine Clinic. This role provides direct patient care within a specialty clinic, prescribing under delegated authority and collaborating with physicians.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Assess physical and mental condition through comprehensive or problem-focused exams and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to determine patient problems and health‑care needs.
  • Prescribe or recommend therapies, including drug treatments, and perform procedures per approved protocols with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Formulate and implement evidence‑based patient treatment plans in partnership with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Evaluate patient response and effectiveness of care, providing counseling on medications, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and initiate timely consultation and referrals when outside scope.
  • Provide consultation‑level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty.
  • Manage patients in settings beyond the primary clinic, such as inpatient or emergency services.
  • Perform invasive procedures appropriate to scope of practice, as delegated by supervising physician.
  • May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond regular schedule.

  • Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical and mental dysfunctions.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with related software applications.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based patient treatment plans.
  • Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological conditions and behavior modification.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Qualifications
  • Current RN licensure in Texas or RN with compact privilege.
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
  • Board certification as an APRN for the targeted patient population.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Less than 1 year of experience (entry level).
