Job Details- Hourly Rate: $17.91 – $21.50 per hour (Park Maintenance Worker I); $18.81 – $22.57 per hour (Park Maintenance Worker II)

Join our team at the City of Plano as a Park Maintenance Worker and help us keep our parks vibrant and welcoming! The Park Maintenance Worker assists with routine maintenance, repair, and construction of park facilities and landscaping. This entry‑level role is perfect for those looking to start a career in park maintenance and make a positive impact on our community.

- Mows and maintains turf and landscaping; prunes and trims trees and shrubs; removes weeds from beds; removes litter, brush and debris from assigned areas.
- Inspects, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment.
- Operates power equipment including one‑ton trucks and trailers, push mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers and blowers; riding mower experience preferred.
- Assists with projects such as sod and seed installation, tree planting, and minor landscape renovations.
- Supports special events as needed.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance; follows established guidelines and safety procedures.
– Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of routine construction, repair and landscape maintenance methods; tool and equipment operation and maintenance.
- Skill in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; operating vehicles, equipment and tools under supervision; following instructions.
- High‑school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Six months of previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or construction preferred.
- Valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license (obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Pass drug test, driver‑license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access to police buildings) and social‑security‑number verification check.
- Mows and maintains turf and landscaping; prunes and trims trees and shrubs; removes weeds from beds; removes litter, brush and debris from assigned areas.
- Inspects, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment.
- Operates power equipment including one‑ton trucks and trailers, riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, and blowers.
- Assists with projects such as sod and seed installation, tree planting, and minor landscape renovations.
- Supports special events as needed.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance; follows established guidelines and safety procedures; identifies potential safety hazards.

Must possess mobility to work in and around City buildings, parks, and facilities; possess strength and stamina to perform light to medium physical work (heavy or strenuous when assigned to Forestry). Varying degrees of bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching; capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials up to 75 pounds with proper equipment.
Employees work in and around buildings and facilities, exposed to constant noise, temperature swings, dust, mechanical hazards, hazardous odors and fumes. When assigned to Forestry, may be exposed to noxious plants, venomous creatures, and wildlife within riparian forests.
