Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective

The R&D Lab Technician is responsible for testing materials and products for the purpose of defining and meeting regulatory and quality standards as requested, including but not limit to in-house testing, 3 rd party tests, sample trials, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Perform lab testing / trials on raw materials, formulas, finished products, packed goods, etc., via sampling, mixing, running trials with processing engineers, operating testing equipment (pH meter, water activity meter, etc.).
  • Record testing data and perform preliminary analysis.
  • Record detailed testing results, findings, and summaries; draft proper and comprehensive test reports as needed; obtain necessary information from cross-function teams to include in the reports as needed.
  • Handle and manage regular raw materials NPIC use for R&D testing purposes; manage and store unique raw materials for various potential projects and maintain proper and up-to-date records.
  • Manage finished products storage and inspection and keep up-to-date records.
  • Summarize, analyze and/or collaborate with 3 rd parties to determine/recommend specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, measuring instruments, etc., with, but not limited to, data, manuals, materials, and 3 rd party expertise.
  • Clean, maintain, calibrate, repair instruments and test equipment as needed.
  • Assist with on-going cross-functional projects and all R&D initiations as needed.

Required

Education and Experience

Degree or equivalent working experience required for this position.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the US.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but can be a point of contact if leadership is out of the office.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to food scents, some food allergens, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is required climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
