Banquet Server (20 hours) – City of Plano
Job Details- Location:
City of Plano – All Others - Full/Part Time:
Part‑Time - Regular/Temporary:
Regular - Hourly Salary Range: $15.47 – $18.57 per hour (based on qualifications)
- Schedule:
Based on events; weekends and nights required
- Greet guests warmly and ensure a positive event experience.
- Set up tables, serve food and beverages, and maintain a clean and organized banquet space.
- Deliver food and drinks promptly, clear plates efficiently, and address special guest requests with professionalism.
- Cross‑train on a variety of activities, e.g., cashier at concession stands, bartending.
- Assist in food preparation as needed and monitor food service throughout the event.
- Maintain inventory of dishes, glasses, flatware, props, and table skirts, and prepare reports for the Banquet supervisor.
- Receive and sign for all dry storage items delivered to Food Sales and Services and check items against invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Review customer food service needs on the day of the meeting and set food tables accordingly.
- Act as the point of contact with customers for last‑minute food and beverage changes during meetings.
- Assist in food preparation and maintain records of actual food and beverage served.
- Perform every food function to ensure the customer’s expectations are achieved and report results to the Food Services Coordinator.
- Monitor food functions, note trends in customer preferences, and advise the Banquet supervisor.
- Lead contract food service attendants during large meetings.
- Cross‑train on cashier and bartending duties.
- Assist in taking and end‑of‑month inventories of food and beverage stock.
- Knowledge of professional table‑side service, buffet setting, and cash register operations.
- Skill in folding napkins, setting formal dining tables, using props creatively, and providing dining and table‑side customer service.
- No formal education required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in large‑scale food service; must be at least 18 years old.
- Any work‑related experience that demonstrates acceptable proficiency is an acceptable substitute for the specified education and experience.
- State of Texas Driver’s license (must obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Food handler and Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC) certification (must obtain within 30 days of starting the position).
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access to police buildings), and social security number verification check.
Physical Demands and Working ConditionsRequires standing and walking between work areas, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. May work indoors and outdoors with moderate noise levels and hazardous substances. Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
