Job Summary

This is a non‑supervisory, entry‑level position for Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) sworn law enforcement officers. The officer will ensure the safety and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors; maintain peace and order while enforcing college rules, regulations, state and federal laws; and provide law enforcement protection and related services for Collin College.

This essential position may require overtime or response to emergencies as determined by the college.

Required Qualifications
  • 24 earned college credit hours from an accredited college or university.
  • Either two (2) years of continued police officer experience, two (2) years of military experience with an honorable discharge, one (1) year as a military police officer with an honorable discharge, or qualifying as a peace officer transferring from another state to Texas with sufficient prior service.
  • Must be able to pass the DPS Concept 2 row test with 25% or greater.
  • Must possess a TCOLE peace officer license and a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Patrol campus grounds and buildings, ensuring doors, windows, and gates are properly secured.
  • Conduct preliminary criminal investigations, accident/injury investigations, and submit reports.
  • Prepare criminal cases and present testimony in court; make court appearances.
  • Write thorough and accurate reports on all criminal complaints, accidents, or significant incidents.
  • Assist students, faculty, and visitors, responding to calls for first aid and medical assistance.
  • Apply acquired skills and experience to complete assigned work within expertise.
  • Work within standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
  • Work under moderate supervision.
  • Enforce laws and parking regulations on campus.
  • Provide security for special events and inform the campus community.
  • Conduct parking enforcement, issue tickets, and guide parking.
  • Conduct crime prevention programs and surveys.
  • Collaborate with college administrators to reduce conflicts.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • May take offensive/defensive action during physical confrontations.
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids, emergency driving hazards, traffic control hazards, natural or man‑made disasters, inclement weather, extreme temperatures.
  • May be involved in hostile or dangerous environments.
  • Require safe firearm operation, motorized equipment operation, and frequent public contact.
Supplemental Functions
  • Subject to extended periods of concentration reviewing crime scenes and investigations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
