Public Works Signs and Markings Technician

The City of Plano values its employees and offers a positive work environment. The Public Works department is seeking a skilled Signs Technician to install, replace, and maintain public signs and posts.
Job Details:
- Install, repair, and maintain City traffic control signage along arterial, collector, and residential roadways.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of signs and markings materials and equipment.
- Maintain and complete daily work orders through asset management and work order software.
- Prioritize daily schedules, duties, and routes to complete assigned work in a timely manner.
- Address and resolve citizen requests in a respectful and courteous manner.
Qualified Candidates Will Have:
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED - Experience:
6 to 12 months of installing, replacing, and maintenance of signs and telspar post.

Hours and
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 6:30am to 5:00pm or Tuesday-Friday 6:30am to 5:00pm. Some weekends required.
Summary of Duties: Under basic supervision, the Signs Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control devices.
Examples of
Essential Job Functions:
- Installs, repairs, and maintains City traffic control signage.
- Monitors and maintains inventory of signs and markings materials and equipment.
- Maintains and completes daily work orders.
- Prioritizes daily schedules, duties, and routes.
- Address and resolve citizen requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and equipment operation and maintenance.
- Skill in communicating effectively and operating a variety of tools and equipment.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. - Experience:
Two years of experience in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. - Licenses and
Certifications:
Texas Class C driver’s license.
