Position Highlights

  • Tenure‑track position starting August 2026 (possible January start).
  • Full‑time, nine‑month, benefits‑eligible.
  • Focus on organic chemistry or polymer chemistry/polymer science with interdisciplinary interests in materials science.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Teach lecture and lab courses in general chemistry and upper‑level courses in organic and polymer chemistry.
  • Develop curriculum in organic and polymer chemistry.
  • Establish an independent research program involving undergraduate students.
  • Seek external funding for undergraduate research.
  • Provide academic advising, mentor undergraduate research, serve on committees, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a very closely related discipline.
  • One year of teaching experience (or two semesters of half‑time teaching assistantship in graduate school).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate research.
  • Ability to effectively teach lower‑level general chemistry courses.
  • Ability to effectively teach upper‑level lecture and lab courses in organic and polymer chemistry.
About the Department

The Chemistry Department currently consists of 9 tenured/tenure‑track faculty, 3 instructional academic staff, and 2 lab technicians.

Offers BS degrees in Chemistry with ACS‑certified emphases (standard track, Biochemistry, Criminalistics, and Criminalistics with a DNA focus). Also offers a Chemistry Minor and a 2‑year Pre‑Pharmacy Program. Approximately 80 majors graduate 12–15 students per year.
