Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York respiratory therapist jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit
• Employment Type: Travel Contract
• Start Date: April 6, 2026
• End Date: July 26, 2026
• Contract Duration: 16 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30pm – 7:00am), rotating schedule
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holidays required
• Floating: Float to hospital floors, nursery, and ER as needed
• Orientation: 2 days
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,140 - $2,290

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Experience with neonatal and pediatric populations; NRP certification or relevant exposure
• Active New York Respiratory Therapist license or proof of application
• Required certifications:
  Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), BLS, ACLS, NRP, NBRC Verification
• EPIC documentation experience within the past 2 years
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
• Reliable personal transportation (no public transportation available)
• Compliance with hospital dress code: black or ceil blue scrubs, closed non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, dress code for nail polish

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonate to adult patients, including trauma level 2 cases
• Operate and manage ventilators (Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV
  1200), ABG analyzers, and specialized respiratory equipment
• Float to various hospital units, including nursery and ER, as required
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
• Participate in orientation and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
• Maintain readiness for N95 mask use (no beard policy)
