Superintendent II | Mortenson
Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent II who will coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific disciplinary area, whilst developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
- Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability
- Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies
- Develop and manage project schedules, including three and six‑week look‑ahead schedules
- Develop a site logistics plan and manage the utilisation of Mortenson tools and equipment
- Collaborate with project partner superintendents
- Conduct on‑site project orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and project site meetings
- Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and terminate craft team members as needed
- Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members
- Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards, track work progress and craft productivity
- Handle craft team member training and conduct career development discussions
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organisational levels
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance
- Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members
- Recognise and mitigate unfavourable working conditions and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience
- Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to fulfil development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to organise and manage multiple project tasks
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%

Base pay range: $126,300 - $189,500. Actual range is higher for the following office locations:
Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
