Senior Mechanical Engineer - Plastics

Base pay range

$60.00/hr - $70.00/hr

Qualifications:

• BS/MS/Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
• Solid Works, Simulation, GD&T, PDM/PLM, including strong surfacing tools knowledge
• Past history of scaling up, going from prototype to mass production with complex electromechanical equipment or systems
• Experience with engineering materials, with a history of properly selecting materials that meet design requirements. Must have injection molded plastics and metals (die cast and sand cast)
• Experience with robotics or motion control, and with battery-powered systems preferred. Experience with bearings, gear boxes, motors and drive trains is helpful
• Comfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debugging, verification, qualification, and transfer
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

• Lead the design, development and implementation of projects
• Participate in all phases of product development
• Create new product architectures for next generation Robotics
• Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies, with careful consideration for mechanical design, kinematics, materials
• Design mechanical systems for robots, including sheet metal, machined parts, weldments, metal castings, and plastic injection moldings
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), source control documents
• Generate and maintain engineering documents such as requirements, interfaces, Design of operation, test plans and reports, release notes, and ECOs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition products from prototype design to fully released, certified, and documented products
