With offices in Folsom and the Bay Area, we’re known for delivering innovative design solutions, technical excellence, and client‑focused service for public infrastructure, transportation, land development, and utility projects.

We’re expanding our Bay Area leadership team and seeking a Principal Engineer / Surveyor to oversee multidisciplinary projects, mentor technical staff, and drive business development across Northern California.

Position Overview

The Principal Land Surveyor will lead regional operations, manage client relationships, and guide teams through all phases of complex public works, land development, and utility projects. This role blends executive‑level technical expertise with strategic business growth, ensuring that R.E.Y. continues to deliver the highest‑quality results across engineering and surveying disciplines.

You’ll collaborate closely with senior leadership to expand R.E.Y.’s Bay Area presence, strengthen relationships with key clients, and mentor the next generation of project and survey leaders.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Technical Oversight
  • Partner with ownership to provide technical and managerial oversight for engineering and surveying operations in the Bay Area.
  • Review, verify, and approve design and survey deliverables including maps, plans, legal descriptions, and records of survey.
  • Guide cross‑disciplinary project teams through concept, design, and construction support phases.
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
Project & Client Management
  • Lead the delivery of complex public infrastructure, transportation, and land development projects.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and scopes with an emphasis on efficiency and quality.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for regional public agencies, private developers, and contractors.
  • Oversee proposal development, cost estimating, and contract administration.
Business Development
  • Drive new business initiatives and long‑term client partnerships throughout the Bay Area.
  • Participate in interviews, presentations, and industry events to represent R.E.Y.’s technical excellence.
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities in public works, transportation, and infrastructure markets.
Team Development
  • Mentor engineers, surveyors, and technical staff in professional growth and leadership development.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance coaching for regional staff.
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performance team culture.
Qualifications
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering and/or land surveying, including leadership or management roles.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary public works, utility, and land development projects.
  • Strong business development acumen with an established Bay Area client network preferred.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and Trimble Business Center (or equivalent).
