Position Title: Product Manager, Capillary Electrophoresis Software
Position Type: 6-month contract
Pay rate: $60-90 per hour
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of a software portfolio supporting capillary electrophoresis (CE) and genetic analysis workflows. This is an opportunity to influence how scientists, laboratory professionals, and technical users generate, analyze, interpret, and act on complex data. You will help transform customer needs into intuitive, high‑value software capabilities that improve usability, strengthen the value of an established instrument installed base, and enable the next generation of intelligent scientific workflows.
A major focus of this role will be identifying and delivering appropriate applications of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and advanced data analysis. The successful candidate will balance innovation with scientific rigor, customer trust, cybersecurity, data integrity, and the requirements of quality‑controlled or regulated environments. Based in Pleasanton, California, you will work closely with a local Software R&D organization and collaborate across product management, engineering, applications, marketing, commercial, service, quality, regulatory, and other functions.
You’ll Do Define Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle plans for CE software products.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer workflows, laboratory environments, pain points, and unmet needs.
- Translate customer, market, and business insights into clear product requirements, priorities, and investment recommendations.
- Manage products across the full software lifecycle, including new releases, enhancements, maintenance, compatibility, cybersecurity, technical debt, and end‑of‑life planning.
- Build business cases and prioritize initiatives based on customer value, market opportunity, technical feasibility, strategic alignment, and business impact.
- Define and monitor performance indicators related to adoption, engagement, usability, customer satisfaction, and commercial performance.
- Partner with product leaders responsible for instruments, consumables, applications, and services to create a connected end‑to‑‑end customer experience.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to CE data analysis and laboratory workflows.
- Develop product concepts, requirements, and business cases for capabilities such as:
- Automated data analysis and interpretation
- Workflow automation
- Intelligent troubleshooting
- Decision support
- Pattern recognition and anomaly detection
- Personalized guidance and improved user experiences
- Work with Software R&D, data science, informatics, and subject‑matter experts to evaluate the feasibility, usability, and scientific value of emerging technologies.
- Help establish a responsible approach to AI‑enabled product development, addressing data quality, scientific validity, explainability, privacy, security, customer trust, and applicable regulatory or quality expectations.
