Associate Attorney – Pleasanton, CA

Gahra & Goswami, a dynamic and client‑focused immigration law firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Pleasanton, CA office. This role offers the opportunity to manage a variety of immigration matters, specifically in removal defense proceedings, while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with clients via phone, email, and in‑person meetings to provide case updates, explain legal processes, and answer inquiries.
  • Manage a caseload involving visa applications, adjustment of status, asylum applications, and removal defense.
  • Conduct legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Draft legal briefs, motions, affidavits, and petitions for submission to immigration authorities and courts.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, including preparing clients for hearings, presenting legal arguments, and advocating for their rights.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of supporting documents such as passports, birth/marriage certificates, etc.
  • Gather client information, discuss case strategy, and provide legal opinions.
  • Collaborate with fellow attorneys, paralegals, and law clerks to develop case strategies and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Stay current on changes in immigration law through continuous education such as seminars, webinars, and legal updates.
  • Support clients throughout the immigration process, including attending interviews and advising on compliance.
Qualifications
  • J.D. Degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience practicing as an attorney preferably in Immigration Law.
  • Working knowledge of Punjabi, Hindi or Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to advocacy and client service.
