. This position supports the Nurse Manager in clinical management and administrative coordination of a designated patient care unit or service. The assistant nurse manager serves as a supportive resource, supervising staff, coordinating operations for an assigned shift, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
- Assists in the operational aspects of a designated unit while providing mentoring and leadership support to staff; supervises the provision of quality, therapeutic and cost‑effective patient care in accordance with hospital protocols and policies.
- Assists Nurse Manager with administrative functions and assumes the Nurse Manager’s duties when delegated or absent.
- Coordinates and directs patient‑care operations for an assigned shift, acting on behalf of the Nurse Manager.
- Facilitates orientation, training and ongoing staff development; participates in coaching, corrective action, and annual performance evaluation of personnel.
- Monitors and evaluates patient‑care processes and outcomes to facilitate smooth workflow and desired outcomes on the unit.
- Communicates expectations, monitors staff performance, and participates in unit goal and program planning, development, and evaluation of projects.
- Provides competent and compassionate patient care, serving as a role model and mentor; assists with unit workload.
- Serves as a liaison to the Nurse Manager.
- Performs duties in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE standards of the Hospital.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (required).
- 2–3 years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience (required).
- Ability to contribute to health‑care policy formulation within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to delegate responsibly, prioritize system resources, and implement change to improve quality and safety.
- Ability to lead process‑improvement projects and influence staff to meet patient needs.
- Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, training, and evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of nursing theories, standards, emerging technologies, and regulations governing nursing care.
- Knowledge of organizational administration, fiscal and personnel management essential to nursing practice.
- Knowledge of hospital system organization and governance for assigned responsibilities.
- Registered Nurse (RN) – State licensure or compact state licensure.
- Current American Heart Association certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Generally starting at $80.87 – $108.68 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
