Position Overview

The Fresh Market Manager will enthusiastically lead and develop a highly motivated team focused on passionately serving guests. The role emphasizes the overall Fresh Store guest experience, team member engagement, meeting or exceeding “Voice of the Customer” metrics, and driving fresh department sales, profits, and shrink identification.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • Responsible for fresh department’s conditions, product quality, and inventory at all times.
  • Supervises, develops and inspires fresh store team members to promote an environment that exemplifies Save Mart’s valley proud and people first culture.
  • Manages all fresh store operations, oversees and directs team members to meet or exceed expected service levels.
  • Ensures compliance with company sanitation, safety, security and other policies, and directs action plans to keep the fresh store in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for achieving fresh store financials (sales, profit and loss, projections, metrics, and analysis) by identifying, defining, and implementing best store practices and optimization strategies utilizing innovative solutions.
  • Manages and directs the in‑store training for all fresh store team members and is responsible for the professional development of all fresh store team members.
  • Supervises, coaches and mentors all Fresh Store team members in the performance of their duties; completes performance reviews and provides actionable feedback; responsible for making and participating in team member advancement and disciplinary decisions.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of the weekly work schedules for all fresh store team members to achieve optimal labor efficiency and service.
  • Spend no more than 25% of their work time performing non‑exempt tasks, such a clerks’ work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hiring pay range: $70,345.00 - $

Required Competencies

Skills – Excellent guest service skills, communication, interpersonal, problem solving, mentoring, initiative, collaboration, organization, administration, and financial skills.

KnowledgeStore operations and financials, store hazardous materials and food safety rules, employee and labor relations practices, interviewing techniques and hiring practices.

Job Requirements

Education
:
High School Diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent). Knowledge gained through formal education or certification (e.g., RMCP), specialized retail training, or additional grocery retail experience; some college preferred.

Experience
: 3 years equivalent management experience – or at least 2 years as a current perimeter department manager, and a minimum six months in another Fresh department is preferred.

Physical
:
Requires standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance, and reaching and pulling objects. Must be able to stand for frequent periods.

Other
:
Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours.
