Job Purpose And Summary

This role supports the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team, accounting for managing, oversight, and operation of all aspects within the pharmacy. Responsibilities include supporting patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices; coaching the pharmacy team during bench shifts; assuming day‑to‑day duties when the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty is not present; ensuring precise prescription fulfillment; fostering positive patient experiences;

delivering immunizations; managing inventory; ensuring compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; remaining flexible for scheduling; maintaining clinical and technical skills; and delivering pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by helping manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as a proxy during bench shifts, coaching the pharmacy team and providing feedback.
  • Assume pharmacy manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the team to follow workflow procedures.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to do the same.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; support pharmacy technicians to learn immunization.
  • Support pharmacy inventory management following best practices, especially for cold chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalating issues.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the Pharmacy Manager by writing the schedule if directed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacy‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions

    • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; extend hands and arms.
    • Move fingers repetitively; control precision with machines.
    • Stoop, lift up to 20 lbs., frequently up to 10 lbs., or negligible force.
    • Exchange ideas by means of spoken word with accurate instructions.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
