Grammer is looking for a Product Engineer with experience in commercial vehicle seating systems to join our office in Plymouth, MI
. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment. This individual will have an opportunity to make lasting and positive changes in our team!
- Develop seats for off-highway machines that meet the requirements of OEM and aftermarket customers utilizing existing off-shelf components.
- Develop innovative solutions to help maintain Grammer's position as a market leader in off-highway seating.
- Communicate directly with OEM customers regarding engineering-related issues as required.
- Complete projects as a member of both regional and global cross-functional teams, which include program management, sales, industrial engineering, and purchasing team members.
- Travel to Grammer locations, OEM customers, suppliers, and trade shows, both domestically and globally, as required (approx. 5%).
- Build or oversee the build of offline sample seats for OEM customer evaluations and product validation testing.
- Participate in pre-production build events at Grammer plants as required.
- Develop design proposals and maintain drawings using Catia in a PLM environment, either directly or in collaboration with a product designer.
- Participate in benchmarking activities as required.
- Support activities related to VA/VE, the localization of purchased components, and continuous improvement, as required.
- Use SAP to maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and to complete tasks in a project workflow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineer or similar area of study
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in seating systems
- Ability to use CAD software to create or manipulate assemblies (Catia preferred)
- Ability to interpret physical test and FEA results
- Ability to work with mechanical tools
- Ability to bend and lift up to 50lbs
- Knowledge of seating system functions and components
- Knowledge of SAP for BOM management and project workflows
- Ability to use CAD software to create 3D models and drawings (Catia)
- Experience with DFMEA, DFSS, tolerance stack-up analysis, and other engineering concepts
- Ability to write and speak in German or Spanish
