Manufacturing Engineering Development Manager

Job Summary: Lead and support the process engineering team in developing processes for cost estimating purposes, perform manufacturability reviews for internal product design engineering, and participate in program launch meetings at manufacturing plants.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and coordinate team priorities to develop processes and cycle times from customer supplied drawings and mathematical data. Must be familiar with fabrication and machining processes.
  • Conduct process reviews with team members to ensure that all processes, cycle times, and external processes/quotes meet the requirements of the TDP/customer RFQ. Approved processes to be submitted to Sales for customer submittal.
  • Coordinate manufacturability reviews to support product design, providing feedback on drawing specifications, tolerancing, material types, GD&T, etc.
  • Participate in outlining estimated processes during program launches at manufacturing plants.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency on cost proposals.
  • Work with manufacturing plants to stay current with actual set‑up times, tooling requirements and inspection methods, and maintain estimating tools to ensure accuracy and improvement of estimates to actuals.
  • Confers with plant management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Read blueprints, understand GD&T and develop a manufacturing process. Perform tasks of Process Engineer as required.
  • Apply general accounting methods in costing out projects and possess strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Competencies
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices across a diverse range of processes.
  • Proficient in GD&T.
  • Extensive knowledge of process flows, material flow, assistive tooling devices.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to apply problem‑solving tools and methodology to manufacturing and business process issues.
Preferred Qualifications

Very strong Excel skills; working knowledge of CAD software, Word processing software, and Adobe Acrobat software.

Education

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Engineering from a four‑year college or university.

Experience

A minimum of tens of years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.
