- Job Title: Quality Control Inspector – Nondestructive Testing
- Department: Production
- Review part prints, procedures and work instructions to complete testing.
- Inspect chemically treated metallic and non‑metallic parts and assemblies under fluorescent or black lighting for defects such as fissures, weld breaks or fractures using magnetic particle or fluid penetrant inspection processes and equipment.
- Set up and perform nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.
- Position parts between electrodes of magnetic testing equipment and activate switch to induce a magnetic field that attracts and accumulates iron‑oxide particles at defective points.
- Immerse or spray non‑magnetic metal or non‑metallic parts with fluid penetrant solution, rinse excess solution, and examine parts under fluorescent or black lighting to detect defects.
- Remove surface defects using hand tools, power tools or abrasive solutions, or mark part defects for repair or discard depending on the extent.
- Notify supervisor of defective processing of parts or materials.
- Ensure that equipment operates correctly.
- Ensure compliance with the Record Control Process and Document Control Process.
- Quantity of work produced and promptness with which it is completed.
- Quality of work – accuracy and adherence to company standards with little rework.
- Judgment/knowledge of job, techniques, equipment, procedures and materials.
- Attendance/dependability – punctuality and attendance.
- Teamwork/attitude – willingness and cooperativeness with co‑workers and supervisors.
- Initiative/independence – ability to seek new tasks and expand skill set without direct supervision.
- Adherence to policy – follow quality environmental policies and knowledge of AS9100 and ISO
14001. - Adherence to safety – follow safety procedures, security protocol and wear proper PPE.
High school diploma or general‑education degree (GED) and one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning AbilityApply common sense and understand instructions in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical DemandsThe job requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling, finger and hand use, reaching with arms, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
