- Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics
- Perform preventative maintenance such as tire replacement, component lubrication, electrical and cooling system repairs on gas and diesel engine vehicles
- Partner with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching
- Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort using tools
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Team player with ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding and compliance with Penske’s instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by management
- Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including tool selection, PPE, machine guarding, and best safety practices
- Regular, predictable full attendance
- Required to meet DOT regulations, maintain a current driver qualification file, pass DOT physical, MVR check, and other documentation; CDL holders subject to drug screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
- Willingness to work required schedule, location, complete application, pass background screening, drug screen, physical, and potential near‑geography travel for training
- Move frequently; stand, walk, climb, bend, sit for extended periods
- Use hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle tools or controls on a routine basis
- Work safely at heights with ladders and work platforms
- Work in all weather conditions
- See and hear safely to navigate large truck environment
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg); occasionally lift up to 100 lbs (45 kg) and push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs
