A building enclosure field technician is responsible for a variety of field centric duties including, performing testing on building enclosure materials such as air and water resistive barriers, windows, curtain walls, sealants, cladding, and roofing. Responsibilities include completing and submitting accurate daily field reports and performing routine tasks, tests and calculations associated with testing and field observations. As a building enclosure field technician, you will assist staff with field testing and independently operate various equipment such as a bubble gun and infrared camera as well as construct chambers on windows and curtain wall systems.
Your work will help ensure performance of building enclosure systems meets design standards. Technicians need to be able to recognize and effectively communicate construction challenges to the proper party in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing on active construction sites in accordance with various test methods.
- Interface with internal and external project teams, clients, and contractors.
- Work with team members to grow your knowledge in building systems and components.
- Safely use specialized equipment and hand tools such as circular saws, drills, and hammers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in a technical field.
- Technical, written, graphical and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and understand test methods and standards associated with building enclosure systems.
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends on an as-needed basis.
- Ability to travel daily, shared company vehicle provided. Some overnight travel may be required.
- A valid driver's license (good driving record) is required.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for long periods of time, work from heights, work in tight spaces and inclement weather.
- Experience working with elevated platforms, such as ladders, pipe-scaffolding, boom-lifts, and suspended scaffolding.
- Willingness to operate aerial lifts such as boom-lifts and suspended scaffolding, training will be provided.
- Computer skills: ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Communication, report writing and customer relations skills.
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and learn new concepts.
- Work well with others, courteous, patient, and respectful.
- Personal awareness of role as an SME ambassador.
- Fortitude required to stick with a problem until solved.
- Open-mindedness to opinions of others.
- Ability to work in an efficient and organized manner independently and with a team.
- Commercial construction and/or commercial or residential carpentry experience.
- Experience reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and testing standards.
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (hours may vary, overtime may be required)
