A building enclosure testing leader is responsible for overseeing the testing and evaluation of building enclosure systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes. This position requires a strong technical background in building science and hands-on experience with enclosure testing methods. The successful candidate will lead a team, perform assessments, and ensure the integrity of building enclosures such as exterior walls, roofs, windows, and doors.
Responsibilities- Oversee and coordinate building enclosure testing, including air barrier, water infiltration, thermal performance, and other specialty tests.
- Assist field staff on-site with logistics, leak diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preparing reports.
- Mentor technicians through guidance, training, and support.
- Ensure testing procedures comply with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Coordinate testing services with project managers and participate in planning, scheduling, and reporting.
- Interact productively with clients and contractors.
- Operate specialty equipment and hand tools safely.
- Perform additional duties such as building assessments, leak investigations, and non-destructive testing.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in building enclosure testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Building Science, or related field.
- Technical experience with facades, curtain walls, fenestrations, glazing systems, sealants, coatings, insulation, air barriers, weather barriers, cladding, roofing, waterproofing, etc.
- Familiarity with testing standards such as AAMA 501.2, ASTM E1105, ASTM E1186, ABAA T0002, ASTM D8231.
- Excellent communication skills (written, graphical, verbal).
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends, and travel as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, work at heights, in tight spaces, and in various weather conditions.
- Experience with elevated platforms and operating aerial lifts (training provided).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently and in a team, and be medically fit for PPE use.
- Experience in consulting firms.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and testing standards.
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu.
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with potential overtime and travel.
