Position OverviewAs a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative R&D team at Nonin Medical where your expertise will drive innovation in medical device systems. In this role, you’ll lead and contribute to cross‑functional projects, shape product development, and ensure our solutions truly meet user needs. You’ll work directly with customers, clinicians, and internal cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, effective, and user‑friendly devices.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Engage directly with customers and end‑users to understand their needs, use cases, and environments.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear system‑level requirements to drive system‑level design (electrical, mechanical, software).
- Oversee system verification and validation activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration from concept through post‑release monitoring.
- Continuously improve Systems Engineering processes and share technical knowledge across teams.
- Lead and mentor engineers and technicians in developing new medical devices and improving existing products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Biomedical, or Systems) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in product definition and systems design, experience in medical devices preferred.
- Hands‑on experience applying and complying with regulatory standards, preferably in medical devices (MDD, ISO 13485, FDA design controls).
- Proven ability to translate customer needs into actionable requirements.
- Proficiency developing, documenting, and managing product requirements.
- Outstanding analytical and communication skills.
- Familiarity with analyzing and applying medical device industry standards and regulations, specifically IEC 60601‑1.
- Demonstrated proficiency with requirements management tools (Polarion, Jama, Doors).
- Experience in clinical environments and direct user interaction.
- Experience establishing and/or improving processes, procedures, and/or infrastructure.
- Track record of leading cross‑functional teams and presenting to diverse audiences.
- Systems Engineering degree or certification (INCOSE ASEP, CSEP, ESEP).
- Excellent communication skills for sharing complex information clearly.
- Experience with project planning and Systems Engineering Management Plans.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
