Position Summary
The General Superintendent is responsible for managing all operational aspects of drilled shaft foundation projects in support of transmission line construction. This includes planning, coordination, personnel oversight, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.
Reports to the Vice President.

Project Planning & Execution- Oversee and take ownership of the operational planning and execution of all projects.
- Develop project schedules, allocate resources, and coordinate with superintendents and foreman.
- Ensure adherence to design specifications, geotechnical requirements, and client expectations.
- Recruit, train, and develop high-performing field personnel to support project execution.
- Lead and mentor field teams, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
- Provide clear leadership, targeted training, and constructive performance feedback to drive productivity and uphold the highest safety standards.
- Foster and lead a culture of safety excellence through proactive team engagement and accountability.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
- Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations as needed.
- Champion and uphold Tri‑State Drilling’s Gold Standard of quality across all projects.
- Assume ultimate responsibility for quality outcomes by monitoring project performance and proactively identifying gaps in compliance, documentation, or execution.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field leadership to ensure teams use current drawings, adhere to quality requirements, and follow proper installation practices.
- Oversee enforcement of quality assurance procedures for drilled shaft construction, including shaft installation and concrete placement, ensuring consistency across all crews.
- Respond decisively to quality concerns, implementing corrective actions to minimize rework, schedule delays, and cost overruns.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing lessons learned and integrating best practices into future projects.
- Oversee mobilization and demobilization of drilling equipment and support vehicles.
- Oversee the coordination of equipment maintenance, repairs, and ensure availability of drilling consumables and supplies.
- Monitor project budgets, job costs, and implement cost control measures.
- Prepare and submit daily reports, progress updates, and financial summaries to senior management.
- Represent the organization as the senior liaison to clients, regulatory inspectors, and utility stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships and project transparency.
- Attend meetings, provide updates, and ensure client satisfaction throughout all projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in deep foundation or utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of drilled shaft construction techniques, geotechnical analysis, and transmission line standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- OSHA 30 certification and valid driver’s license required.
Hybrid role between office and field-based work with regular visits to active job sites, often in outdoor environments subject to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Work is performed in and around rough or uneven terrain, construction zones, and industrial environments where large machinery and heavy equipment are in regular operation.
