A leading contractor in the South West is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor, or an Assistant QS ready to step into a larger role, to support a growing pipeline of social housing and cladding remediation projects across Plymouth and the wider region.
The RoleYou will be a key part of the commercial team, working on essential safety‑led and compliance‑driven projects within occupied and void residential settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing commercial aspects of refurbishment, fire‑safety, and cladding remediation works
- Preparing cost estimates, tenders, bills of quantities, and procurement packages
- Assessing subcontractor quotations and supporting procurement decisions
- Overseeing valuations, variations, payment applications, and financial reporting
- Ensuring projects comply with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and safety legislation
- Working closely with site teams, residents, and client representatives typical within social housing environments
This role offers excellent progression potential for an Assistant QS who wants to develop toward full QS responsibility.
About YouWe're keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience in construction cost management, ideally within social housing, planned works, or building safety programmes
- Knowledge of cladding remediation, fire‑safety works, or façade packages (desirable but not essential)
- Strong communication skills, especially when working around residents, housing officers, and multi‑disciplinary teams
- A proactive approach with strong analytical and organisational skills
- Relevant QS qualifications or demonstrable experience within a commercial function
