About the RoleGSL Education is seeking a dedicated
Learning Mentor to join a supportive SEMH provision in Plymouth catering to students aged 4-16. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives through 1:1 and small group support, particularly for students with SEMH challenges, Autism, other learning difficulties.
FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE A UK DRIVING LICENCE AND OWN CAR AND BE HAPPY TO USE THIS FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES.
As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students to help remove barriers to learning and support their personal, social, and emotional development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 mentoring and small group interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Supporting students with SEMH challenges, Autism, speech and language difficulties, or other learning needs to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Collaborating with teaching staff and specialists to implement strategies that enable students to achieve their full potential.
- Monitoring student progress and reporting on interventions, celebrating successes along the way.
- Building strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted adult and role model.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on personal interaction, empathy, and problem-solving, rather than whole-class teaching.
