Training Delivery Instructor; Meteorology/Oceanography
Role Overview
Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster by preparing Royal Navy personnel for the challenges of the real world. In this role within the Hydrographic, Meteorological and Oceanographic Training Unit (HMTU), you’ll bring Meteorology and Oceanography to life—equipping learners with the knowledge and confidence they need to operate effectively in dynamic and demanding environments.
Location:
HMNB Devonport, Plymouth. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. SC level security clearance required.
- Deliver high‑quality training in Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) to support Royal Navy learners.
- Act as subject‑matter expert across METOC disciplines, providing technical knowledge and supporting effective training delivery.
- Prepare, deliver and assess training to ensure learners achieve required standards and operational readiness.
- Contribute to the design, review and continuous improvement of training materials, courses and assessments.
- Support and mentor colleagues to maintain consistent delivery standards and share best practice across the training team.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive and compliant learning environment, with a strong focus on duty of care, health, safety and environmental standards.
- Essential
- Qualification in Meteorology/Oceanography or proven relevant experience.
- Proven experience across both meteorology and oceanography.
- Desirable
- Instructional or training delivery experience/qualifications.
- Anti‑Submarine Warfare background or knowledge.
- Aviation forecasting experience.
- Salary up to £54,000, depending on skills and experience.
