We are seeking an English Teacher to make a real difference to the long term outcomes of children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
Flexibility, humour and a willingness to go the extra mile are essential for all staff to ensure a high standard of support for all our pupils. You must be a highly motivated practitioner who is able to meet the complex needs of young people who have a history of difficulties within a learning and social environment.
In addition to English, candidates should clarify other curriculum skills/experience they can offer
You will:
- Be able to teach pupils to GCSE entry level standard in English
- Be committed to working with children with SEND and high level complex needs
- Have knowledge or interest in Autistic Spectrum Conditions and understand associated behaviours
- Have had involvement in recording, developing, analysing and tracking pupil progress
- Be committed to working within a team promoting exciting and creative learning
Degree in Related Subject essential
Post Grad Teaching Qualification essential
Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) essential
Any further qualifications in related fields desirable
ExperienceExperience of GCSE entry level in English essential
Working with children/ young people with SEN, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum. essential
Experience of having taught in a classroom environment essential
Experience of differentiating work programmes for pupils essential
Experience of monitoring, tracking and analysing student progress essential
Proven success in preparing pupils for external examinations
Experience/KnowledgeKnowledge of the new National Curriculum essential
LeadershipAdaptable - ability to adapt style to a variery of situations and people
Personal AttributesAbility to build good relationships with pupils, teaching staff, parents and carers – whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries. essential
Emotional resilience in working with children/ young people who may present with behaviours which challenge essential
Able to present lessons in an engaging way for pupils essential
Able to enhance classroom presentation through use of ICT essential
Has held responsibility for more than one curriculum area
Has held other whole school/management responsibilities
