Spanish Instructor (Part-Time)

Schedule:

Approximately 1.5 hours per week, only teaching once a week.

The purpose of the Part-Time Spanish Instructor is to create an engaging, nurturing, and interactive learning environment where preschool students can develop an early appreciation for the Spanish language and culture. Through age‑appropriate instruction, music, songs, and engaging activities, the Spanish Instructor will introduce students ages 3–6 to foundational Spanish vocabulary and language skills. By fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning, the instructor will help students build confidence in exploring a new language while supporting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

What You’ll Do:

Spanish Curriculum Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement engaging, age‑appropriate Spanish lessons and activities that introduce preschool students to basic Spanish vocabulary, phrases, and language concepts.
  • Prepare and present a Spanish curriculum syllabus to school administration outlining learning objectives, lesson plans, and instructional activities.
  • Use interactive teaching methods, including games, movement, storytelling, and music, to encourage student participation and language development.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the developmental needs and learning abilities of students ages 3–6

Music and Performance:

  • Teach Spanish songs and incorporate music and movement into lessons to support language learning and cultural appreciation.
  • Prepare students to perform Spanish songs at the school's spring concert.
  • Create a fun, supportive environment that encourages students to participate, build confidence, and enjoy learning Spanish.

Parent and Family Communication:

  • Prepare and share a monthly summary with parents and families outlining the Spanish concepts, vocabulary, songs, and activities their children are learning.
  • Communicate student learning progress and classroom experiences in a clear, positive, and family‑friendly manner.
  • Support collaboration between the school and families by providing insight into students’ Spanish language development.

Professional Collaboration and Commitment:

  • Collaborate with school administration to ensure Spanish instruction aligns with the school's educational philosophy and preschool learning environment.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling and instructional planning to meet the needs of the school and the right candidate.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing consistent, engaging Spanish instruction throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

What You’ll Need:

  • Fluency in Spanish, with the ability to teach basic Spanish language skills to young children.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly students ages 3–6.
  • At least one year of childcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop age‑appropriate lesson plans and present a curriculum syllabus to school administration.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to prepare monthly parent updates.
  • Experience teaching songs, incorporating music into lessons, or preparing children for performances is preferred.
  • A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to create engaging learning experiences in a preschool setting.
  • Commitment to teaching for the full 2026–2027 school year.
