Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP) for one of our clients, a leading UK construction and facilities management business delivering major public-sector projects. They require a commercially strong QS to take ownership of the MEP commercial function on a large-scale healthcare development in the South West.

Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial management of a major MEP package on a flagship healthcare project
  • Prepare and manage applications, valuations, cash flow forecasts and cost reports
  • Administer contracts, variations, and change control across main contracts and subcontracts
  • Price, negotiate and secure agreement on variations and loss-and-expense claims
  • Monitor commercial performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, tender reviews, orders, payments and account close-out
  • Maintain accurate subcontractor accounts, assess claims and manage prolongation or L&E
  • Produce monthly CVRs, forecasts, budget reviews and consolidated commercial reporting
  • Support tendering, sales, operations and finance with commercial analysis and documentation
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
  • Ensure compliance with governance, quality and contractual standards
  • Provide commercial support and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team
  • Maintain high-quality project documentation and support audits/inspections as needed
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline
  • Proven experience in MEP Quantity Surveying, ideally on complex, high-value projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and variation management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with digital commercial tools advantageous
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, methodical approach
  • Full UK driving licence
