The Opportunity
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Civil/Structural Engineer to support the remediation of critical marine infrastructure within a secure defence environment in Plymouth. This is a full-time, site-based contract role (40 hours per week, initial 46-week duration) working as part of a major programme delivery team responsible for complex capital works across the defence estate.
We would also welcome applications from these industries: marine and maritime infrastructure, nuclear, heavy civil engineering, major infrastructure, regulated utilities.

The Role

This role would suit candidates currently working as a Senior Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, Marine Engineer, Principal Engineer, Project Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Design Engineer, Construction Engineer, Engineering Manager or Civil Project Engineer.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Define and document technical requirements, prepare ground investigation scopes, and respond to technical queries and RFIs throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead and coordinate engineering input, including design development, detailed design management, and technical review of drawings and specifications in line with site standards.
Provide technical assurance by reviewing contractor method statements, work instructions and risk assessments, ensuring alignment with design intent and safety requirements.
Oversee on-site construction and remediation activities, including supervision of commissioning or decommissioning works where required.
Engage collaboratively with contractors, designers and key stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and efficient delivery while upholding environmental, health, safety, security and quality standards.

You will have the following qualifications and experience
Proven experience delivering design assurance on complex civil engineering projects within regulated or high-risk environments.
Strong background in civil and/or structural engineering across major infrastructure schemes.
Demonstrable experience managing stakeholder engagement across the full engineering lifecycle.
Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (or equivalent experience) with expertise aligned to marine and mechanical engineering principles.
UK National with current SC Clearance (or eligible to obtain it);
Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
