The Position

Site Engineer

Job Summary

Site Engineer
Herreschoff Kiln 3 (HK3), Lee Moor, Devon
Up to £50,000 + 10% bonus + excellent benefits
Permanent | 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Flexible working hours (within reason)

The Role

This is a hands‑on leadership position, managing a team of six skilled engineers within a specialist milling and secondary processing environment. Reporting to the HK3 Plant Manager and working closely with the Secondary Processing Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will lead the engineering function on site — setting standards, driving reliability, managing budgets and delivering continuous improvement. This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility within reason to suit operational demands and leadership responsibilities.

There is no shift pattern attached to this role.

You Will Be Equally Comfortable
  • Leading, motivating and developing your team
  • Managing maintenance strategy, KPIs and performance
  • Owning SAP CMMS processes and maintenance planning
  • Stepping onto the tools when required to support your engineers
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of six engineers, fostering engagement, accountability and high performance
  • Build a strong safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with all HSE and environmental standards
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across kiln, milling and associated process plant
  • Maximise plant reliability and OEE
  • Manage the site maintenance budget and control expenditure
  • Oversee site stores and critical spares management
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and structured maintenance systems
  • Support capital projects, plant upgrades and refurbishment activities
  • Collaborate closely with operations, quality, safety and procurement teams
About You

You are a confident engineering manager who leads from the front. You bring experience from a manufacturing, minerals or milling environment, with strong technical capability and excellent organisational discipline.

You Will Have
  • Proven experience leading engineering maintenance teams
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
  • Experience with in heavy industrial or processing environments
  • Strong SAP / CMMS knowledge and robust back‑office management skills
  • Budget and cost control experience
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and structured compliance systems
