About the team:
The West Stations Dispatch Competency Team consists of three Dispatch Competence Managers. Reporting to the Regional Station Manager, you will be working as part of a highly professional and productive team, of which you will become an invaluable member.
About the job:Working across the West region, your role will primarily consist of maintaining dispatch competence management systems. You will do this by carrying out assessments, giving guidance support and advice, as well as supporting the station teams with investigations of operational incidents and providing recommendations with clear action plans.
Your main responsibilities will be:- Assess and develop dispatch competence safety critical staff in accordance with industry and company standards to provide a safe train service
- Act as a subject matter expert in train dispatch by giving guidance and support
- Coach and develop colleagues to continually improve safety and standards
- Work closely with Station Management teams
- Undertake an on‑call commitment
- Pro‑active in your approach to managing workload and achieving KPIs
- Organised and able to manage your time effectively & flexibly to achieve deadlines
- Able to carry out and assist in incident investigations
- Accurate and detailed in paperless record‑keeping
- Able to produce and implement concise action plans
- Able to identify and implement strategies to reduce safety related incidents
- Able to analyse performance in order to drive standards
- Able to evaluate and be confident in making appropriate decisions
- Ideally held Dispatch competence for a minimum of 2 years
- Ideally have or working towards an A1 Assessor's award
- Experience of establishing relationships with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to engage and motivate
- A flexible and adaptable approach
- A passion for customer service
- Knowledge of rules and regulations
- A detailed and methodical approach
Primarily Monday‑Friday, with flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the business is expected in this role. Some weekend and Bank Holiday working may also be required.
This role carries an On‑Call requirement.
