Site Engineer

12 - 18 month contract

£350 - £400 per day

07:30-17:00, Monday to Friday

Located in Plymouth

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Site Engineer to join a well- established delivery team on a major highways and structures project. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a 12 - 18 month contract. As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for the accurate delivery of works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and QA procedures. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring technical compliance, maintaining high quality standards, and supporting safe and efficient site operations.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out setting out for highways and structural elements
  • Producing and maintaining accurate as-built records
  • Reviewing drawings and raising technical queries where required
  • Ensuring works are delivered in line with design specifications and ITP/QA processes
  • Supervising subcontractors and direct labour on site
  • Monitoring quality control and maintaining site documentation
  • Supporting the implementation of Temporary Works procedures (where applicable)
  • Ensuring strict compliance with health & safety standards
  • Liaising with project managers, designers, and commercial teams
Requirements
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Recognised Setting Out qualification
  • Strong highways experience (earthworks, drainage, pavements, kerbing, etc.)
  • Proven structures experience (bridges, retaining walls, reinforced concrete, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of QA procedures and technical drawings
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team
Desirable
  • SSSTS
  • Temporary Works Supervisor certification (beneficial)
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
