Principal Electrical Engineer
About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Plymouth or Exeter offices.
Our teams deliver outstanding design on built environment projects across the Southwest and beyond. Working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will be part of a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team with a supportive and flexible culture.
As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will support and deliver designs across a wide variety of project types and sizes, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver design solutions of the highest standard while securing repeat and new business opportunities. A key aspect of this role is to support and develop a team of technically competent, collaborative, and highly engaged members.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across several building sectors.
- Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
- Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a communicative, collaborative, and timely approach to delivery. This is a client-facings role, attending project meetings and translating the brief within the project team.
- Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
- Mentor and support next-generation professionals, including apprentices and graduates.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering a variety of complex projects.
- Experience with modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
- Demonstrable experience working with clients, contractors and architects in a design-oriented consultant role.
- Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
- Experience supporting others to develop knowledge, skills and confidence.
